In order to allow us to add some cool new features to Sign in the future, the first step was to redesign the contact system so that it is more flexible. Version 2.0 is a complete redesign of the contact management system; however, there will only be small differences noticeable to the user. The primary difference is that the list of contacts will now only show the names of the contacts. This should significantly shorten the list of names to scroll through when assigning a gesture because it will not include all of the names AND phone numbers. Instead, it will only show the names. To assign a gesture now, simply click on the name of the contact and specify the phone number. Due to how Google syncs contacts from multiple sources, there may be some repeats of phone numbers; however, you can assign a gesture to any phone number and it will automatically apply that to any duplicates.

Hopefully, these changes will also eliminate the potential for users to lose their gestures under specific circumstances. Although the number of people who experienced this issue was relatively few, it was an issue with the contacts database which has now been rectified. It has been tested; however, until it is fully released, it is difficult to know if the problem is fully resolved.
