Android Authority Review – CritiCall

This review from leading Android website Android Authority is from a couple months ago – before the most recent update which updated the UI. Somehow we missed it in our browsing of all things Android, but its worth checking out.

Thanks to Josh Munoz with Android Authority for taking the time to review CritiCall!

CritiCall Makes AndroidGuys’ List of 10 Apps and Games Worth Exploring

One of our favorite Android websites, AndroidGuys, has recently started a new feature called Appteasers which highlights ten of the best apps from the tons of apps they receive from developers. CritiCall was included as one of the top 10 apps and games “worth exploring.”

We agree. Check it out and let us know what you think!

Article – The Price of Piracy

Check out our article The Price of Piracy and tell us your thoughts. As a developer, our position on piracy may surprise you.

Special thanks to GameZebo for letting us publish a response to Madfinger CEO Marek Rabas’s recent article about piracy. It’s an important topic for developers and users and there is obviously room for disagreement. We want to hear from you – what side are you on?

Simply Applied to Donate 10% of Sign Sales to Help Fight Cancer

On November 25, 2010, my dad lost his fight with cancer. He was 67.

Over 25 years ago, he started his own construction company and built a reputation as hard working, reliable, and trustworthy. This is why his company was successful for over a quarter of a century, and his entrepreneurial spirit is what inspired me to help start Simply Applied.

Cancer is a terrible and destructive disease and it seems to be more and more prevalent these days. Almost everyone knows someone who has suffered or is currently suffering from cancer. Simply Applied is proud to announce that we will donate 10% of sales of  our first Android app Sign in 2011 to help in the fight against cancer. The money raised will be donated evenly between the American Cancer Society and the MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Thanks for helping us do a small part to support cancer research.

Screenshots for Sign version 2.3

Just wanted to post a few screenshots to show the new graphics in version 2.3. We’re pretty excited about the changes and would like to hear your thoughts.

Also, both Sign and Sign Lite continue to maintain their high ratings in the market. Sign is currently about 4.5/5.0 stars and Sign Lite is about 4.1/5.0 stars. The primary difference is that people sometimes give lower ratings because Sign Lite only allows 3 contacts to be assigned gestures.

Finally, we aren’t done adding features – we’re going to implement some user control over the recognition, allow the user to save multiple Signs for each number to improve the recognition, add email, add the ability to assign gestures to apps or other shortcuts, etc. As always, we welcome suggestions, but these are just some of the features we are going to be working on over the next several weeks/months.

Sign Update 2.3 on Android Market

Sign, our gesture based speed dial app, has been updated and is available on the Android Market! We have improved the graphics, which we think you’ll really like. We have also added an option that forces the phone to go back to your home screen after you’ve made a call with Sign, instead of going to the call log. Please email us at simplyapplied@gmail.com if you have any problems or compliments. Thanks!

Sign Lite Passes 10,000 Downloads!

Simply Applied is proud to announce that late last week we passed the 10,000 downloads mark for our free app, Sign Lite! Thanks again to all of our users for your support. We are continuing to make improvements to Sign and Sign Lite and we appreciate your feedback to make this app as great as possible. Keep an eye out for an upcoming update which will improve the graphic elements of the app.

Also, please watch out for our next app, CritiCall, which is coming soon!

xda developers

For those not familiar with the xda Developers website/forum, its a great resource for all things Android and Windows Mobile. Definitely check it out, especially if you have any questions or problems with your Android or Windows Mobile device.

Also, Android Phone Geek posted a great review of Sign last week! David Wasserman, aka The Android Phone Geek, does a great job of providing keen insight into the Android community and we’re really happy that he took the time to try out Sign and provide a fantastic review.
